At 73,
Nana Patekar stands as one of Bollywood's most distinctive actors, known equally for his powerful performances and his temperamental nature. His four-decade journey in Indian cinema showcases how age and personality shape an actor's career trajectory.
The veteran actor's reputation for being difficult on sets, combined with his advancing age, presents unique challenges in today's fast-paced Bollywood environment. While contemporaries like
Anil Kapoor have adapted smoothly to changing times, Patekar's journey tells a different story of artistic evolution and professional relationships.
Anil Kapoor and
Nana Patekar, both seasoned actors, have a close connection. The two have been together on cinema in classic films like Welcome and Parinda. The Animal actor advised that Nana alter his perception of having anger management issues during a recent pleasant talk between the two.
Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar recently had an open discussion during which Kapoor told Nana that he doesn't often go to Bollywood events and that he keeps a distance from the business. The Welcome actor clarified this by enquiring as to why he had to attend a party.
He said that while he is the type of person who would not think twice about giving someone "do jhaapde (two whacks)" for saying anything awful that could make you feel bad, he can have drinks at home. Anil interrupted and inquired as to the origin of his anger management problems.
The Vanvaas actor responded by saying that while it is not about anger, misbehaving will result in such treatment. Anil Kapoor, who is a friend, proposed that love might be used to overcome disagreements instead of using violence.
He revealed, “Har aadmi ko thodi maarna hota hai yaar, pyaar se bhi samjha sakta hai (You don’t have to hit everyone; you can make them realize with love),” and "The person should first be in the condition to understand," Nana retorted. The actor from Prahaar asked what love language a drunk person would comprehend if he was insane.
The Beta actor then mentioned, "isiliye kaafi directors tere saath kaam karne se darte hain to thoda image change kar yaar (This is the reason many directors are afraid to work with you. Change your image a bit)." Although Kapoor acknowledged that Nana is not like that, he said that people's perceptions need to be altered.
Since he is now 74, Nana openly stated, it is too much to expect to bring about such significant changes in his personality. He went on to quip that even Anil occasionally strikes out at individuals who irritate him, but the Fighter actor flinched, saying, "Never!"
Regarding her career, Nana Patekar will next be seen in the movie Vanvaas, which also stars Utkarsh Sharma. December 20, 2024, is when the movie will be released.
