Film Housefull 3 is worthy to watch once for mindless comedy and Akshay Kumar's performance. !!

Sajid Nadiadwala's Housefull franchise has delivered mindless entertainment throughout the years and the latest release Housefull 3 also tries to do the same.

 

Building on the previously two movies in the franchise, also written by Sajid-Farhad, Housefull 3 serves rambunctiously funny one-liners from the start, and sets a comfortable ground for the actors to walk.

 

But, though the first two parts were super-successful because of their crazy characters and humorous dialogues, Housefull 3 comes across only as hilarious in parts and overdone in others.

 

Set in London, Housefull 3 is about Batuk Patel (Boman Irani), who has three daughters Ganga (Jacqueline Fernandez), Jamuna (Lisa Haydon) and Saraswati (Nargis Fakhri), who pretend to be 'sanskari' but are wild lasses in love with Sandy (Akshay Kumar), Teddy (Riteish Deshmukh) and Bunty (Abhishek Bachchan) respectively.

 

But, due to certain circumstances, Batuk doesn't want his daughters to get wedded and in order to avoid a prediction by an astrologer, Sandy, a footballer with a multiple personality disorder pretends to be a paraplegic, Teddy, a car racer, pretends to be blind and Bunty, a rapper, pretends to be mute.

 

How this leads to a comedy of errors, which is further compounded by the arrival of Urja Nagre (Jackie Shroff), a former underworld don with a personal interest in the future of the three young women, forms the rest of the plot.

 

The three male leads have had the time of their lives shooting this movie, from what we can see, but it is Akshay Kumar, who walks away with all the round of applause. Akshay is a natural at comedy and shows his crazy side with much assurance while Riteish Deshmukh, who can generally be counted on for a few laughs, dissatisfies us. Same goes for Abhishek Bachchan, who struggles to evoke laughs, barring in a scene or two.

 

The three women bring nothing but glamour and beauty to the table and have got some of the nastiest lines in the movie. Boman, with his bad wig and a heavy Gujju accent, can assuredly do better, we are sure while Jackie is still the cool dude after all these years. Chunkey Pandey reprises his role as Aakhri Pasta and gets on our nerves with his acting.

 

Akshay’s split personality act – Sandy and Soondy who take cue from Edward Norton’s Fightclub.

 

At the beginning, let us inform that the movie is one of those 'leave your brains at home' comedies and if you decide to not take it seriously, you might even end up having a few laughs, because some of the jokes are really quite funny, while others seem to have been lifted from WhatsApp forwards.

 

Sajid-Farhad are assuredly funny enough, but they lack uniformity, because of which, the movie in its totality is not as funny as the previous two movies in the series, which were helmed by Sajid Khan.

 

However, Housefull 3 does lack some of the crackling energy from the previous movie, it’s Kumar who keeps the momentum going.

 

Overall, it is worthy to watch once for mindless comedy and Akshay Kumar’s performance.
