Guneet Monga reacts on the Portrayal of Violence in Indian Cinema!

Two films in the violent genre, Kill and Animal, were released in 2023. The film starring Ranbir Kapoor was heavily criticized for its depiction of violence and misogyny. The producer of the Lakshay-starring movie recently defended the movie, pointing out similarities between the two movies and saying they didn't highlight any blood scenes.

Guneet Monga said in a recent media chat that they saw Kill as a "art form" in which they depicted violence in a very small area. She highlighted the conversation they've had around how violence is portrayed and handled, as well as how women and their bodies are portrayed in particular ways.

According to Guneet Monga, Kill takes viewers on a trip where they feel sorry for the villains as well. She referenced a review of Kill that described it as "a film that loves and hates its action in equal measures" and mentioned the kills and violence that take place in the movie.

She claims that they succeeded in providing the audience with an experience. She emphasized, "We didn’t glorify any blood scenes, there was no slo-mo of blood, no celebration of violence. It was plain in your face to be disliked, but you are also in that space. So, Kill for me was a certain art form that we signed for. "

The 41-year-old praised Animal, describing it as a "theatrical experience" and recalling how the movie left her speechless. She said that the action sequences had excellent music and were expertly filmed. According to Guneet, the Ranbir Kapoor film was made in a different style, and she disagreed with the storyline because it was misogynistic.

She claimed that it was hard to witness women being objectified all the time and that one had to choose how to tell the tale. “I dislike the misogyny of it. I like the action sequences of Animal and kill is a different experience altogether," she told in the end.
