Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Kapoor are frequently seen setting huge couple objectives through their continuous support for one another. While Shahid has had a fantastic career with multiple hit films, Mira has previously stated that she wishes he had acted in Ranbir Kapoor's Rockstar.

During a rapid-fire round on Karan Johar's chat show Koffee with Karan, Mira Kapoor was asked to select a movie she wishes Shahid Kapoor had made. Without hesitation, she responded to the 2011 Hindi musical love drama Rockstar.

Imtiaz Ali previously told to a daily that Rockstar was almost a film that never happened. The project lingered in the background for years, with the tale making the rounds in intimate circles, but it never really came together. That changed when Ali met Ranbir Kapoor at a film screening.

Though Ali approached Kapoor with a different script in mind, Kapoor was drawn to the story of Rockstar. So much so that he began enthusiastically reciting the plot to Ali during their encounter. This unexpected turn of events convinced Ali that Kapoor was the best option for the job. When Ali inquired whether he wanted to take on the film, Ranbir enthusiastically agreed. The conversation ended with Ali pledging to return with the Rockstar script, now confident that Ranbir was the appropriate person to bring the story to life.

Imtiaz Ali's film Rockstar stars Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri in prominent roles, with a strong supporting cast that includes Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra, Shernaz Patel, Kumud Mishra, and Shammi Kapoor. A. R. Rahman's soundtrack contributes significantly to the film's appeal.
