Ratna Pathak Shah discloses about being 'Completely Unemployed For A Year'!

If you've ever believed that life becomes simpler for Bollywood stars, Ratna Pathak Shah has some news for you. The well-known and highly regarded actress disclosed startling information while strolling the Cannes 2024 red carpet. Ratna claimed that her lack of social media had kept her jobless for a full year.

 

The actor raised awareness of the fact that, in the era of Instagram, an actor's chances of landing a role are influenced by the number of their social media followers while visiting the Cannes Film Festival.

 

Ratna gave a direct response when a tabloid asked if an actor's appearance is more important than their talent. She disclosed, “Yes, the answer is simply yes. She continued, “I don’t know how to blame actors for that because these are the things that are asked and are focused on. Depending on the number of followers, people are getting work today. That is what I have heard.”

 

Ratna Pathak Shah thought back on her time off the screen as well. She revealed, “Nobody approached me for work because I am not on Instagram, so maybe that can be a reason. I have been completely unemployed for a whole year now. So, these are the kinds of things that do seem to matter a lot. What to do also? Where will someone go and learn acting from if they want to learn the craft? It’s quite difficult.”

 

Ratna was recently spotted with the Manthan team, whose film was exhibited at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival, strolling the red carpet. Ratna opted to wear her own saree to the film festival, unlike other celebs, and paired it with a bespoke himroo top and jacket. Actor Naseeruddin Shah, her spouse, and Prateik Babbar, the late actor Smita Pathak's son, joined her.

 

The actor, who is 66 years old, rose to fame after acting in the Doordarshan series Idhar Udhar. Later on, her role in Filmy Chakkar was also praised. Her character, Maya Sarabhai, in the television series Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai, developed a cult following and helped her become well-known.
