Soha Ali Khan, the daughter of actress Sharmila Tagore and former cricket player Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, recently talked about her childhood and how, despite their affluent upbringing, her parents taught her and her siblings, Saif and Saba Ali Khan, to maintain their sense of reality. According to Soha, her father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, frequently conveyed the idea that the family wasn't wealthy. "He was very concerned about the cost of petrol and electricity," she revealed.

In a podcast, Soha Ali Khan noted that although she had a luxurious upbringing, her parents made sure she knew the importance of money. She described how her father would put post-it notes all over the home to remind them to save energy by turning off the lights. She said that there was only one phone in the house and joked that it was difficult to locate since her sister, Saba, would frequently lock herself in her room with it.

When her father gave her Rs 500, Soha recalled a priceless lesson he had taught her. He gave her the option to accept the money right away or get Rs 50 annually. When she opted for the latter, her father fulfilled his pledge to teach her the value of prudent saving and investment.

According to Soha, she was informed about home money by both of her parents. Sharmila Tagore, her mother, would frequently meet with the cook to monitor spending and manage the family's budget. Soha ended by stating that although they were not pampered, she did grow up enjoying the perks of being a princess but always realized how important it was to maintain one's sense of reality.

Soha also conveyed her appreciation for their existence. She acknowledged that at the time, they were unaware of the significance of their lovely home in Delhi, which is located across from Sena Bhawan. But after 20 years, they believed they shouldn't have become too accustomed to it because it was eventually taken away. She went on to say that she is grateful for a lot of things that they had that others did not, and that those experiences made her realize how important even the simplest things are.
