The John Wick series is still going strong. Lionsgate has formally revealed John Wick: Chapter 5, defying earlier rumors that the film will mark the final chapter for Keanu Reeves' title character. The studio has confirmed a number of spin-offs in addition to the main sequel, such as an animated series, a high-budget video game, and a project led by Donnie Yen.

The announcement was made at Lionsgate's major CinemaCon presentation, which took place at the Caesars Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas. The studio announced that longtime director Chad Stahelski will return to direct and produce the movie, and Keanu Reeves will play John Wick again. Thunder Road producers Erica Lee and Basil Iwanyk will also be returning.

John Wick: Chapter 4, the previous film in the series, made over $440 million worldwide and was a huge box office triumph. The four films have all fared remarkably better than their predecessors, contributing to the franchise's overall earnings of almost $1 billion.

The universe keeps growing with several spin-offs in addition to John Wick 5. While Donnie Yen will direct and appear in a spinoff based on his character, Caine, with filming beginning this summer, the Ana de Armas-led movie Ballerina is set for release on June 6. With The Continental: From the World of John Wick, which is accessible on Peacock and Amazon Prime, the brand has also ventured into television. In addition, Stahelski and Reeves are executive producers of a new television series called John Wick: Under the High Table.

With a highly anticipated AAA video game in development and an immersive John Wick-themed event in Las Vegas, Lionsgate is making the most of the brand beyond film and television.

Lionsgate seems committed to maintaining the franchise, even though Keanu Reeves previously stated that he wanted John Wick's story to end with Chapter 4.
