The rumours that Halle Berry may play Storm again in the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday have been officially put to rest. Berry has stated that she will not be returning, even though a number of her X-Men co-stars are.
When Marvel Studios revealed the cast list for Avengers: Doomsday, it sparked rumours that actors like James Marsden (Cyclops), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), and Kelsey Grammer (Beast) would be returning to their roles. Berry has vehemently denied any connection, despite the studio's intimation that other names might be added later.
Fans shouldn't hold their breath, Berry advised Black Girl Nerds in response to the rumors, “Keep waiting. It’s not going to be there.” Fans who had anticipated to see her use Storm's powers again may be disappointed by her absence from the movie.
In the 2000 live-action X-Men movie, Berry played Storm. He went on to play the character in X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). While others, such as Stewart and Grammer, have already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), she has decided to leave the role despite her lengthy association with it.
Fans will have to accept that Storm will not be one of the many adored mutants making a comeback in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026.
