Since their significant Cannes victory, Payal Kapadia and her film All We Imagine As Light have been the buzz of the town. The film received praise for its direction by Payal at a number of international prizes. Payal has been nominated for another award, the DGA, after losing in the Golden Globes 2025 Best Director category.

On January 8, 2025, the 77th Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards nominations were revealed. A nomination for the Michael Apted Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a First-Time Theatrical Feature Film has been made for Payal Kapadia. Payal's first work of fiction is titled All We Imagine As Light.

She has competition from Sean Wang for Dìdi, Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel for Armand, Megan Park for My Old Ass, and RaMell Ross for Nickel Boys. On February 8, 2025, the DGA Awards winners will be revealed.

All We Imagine As Light received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globes 2025, and Payal Kapadia received a nomination for Best Director—Motion Picture. The date of the event was January 5, 2025. Emilia Pérez won the other category, while Brady Corbet, the director of The Brutalist, defeated Payal.

Hridhu Haroon, Chhaya Kadam, Divya Prabha, and Kani Kusruti are all part of the cast of All We Imagine As Light. Payal Kapadia is both the writer and director of the movie. In 2024, the highly regarded film had its debut at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. There, it took home the Grand Prix, the festival's second-highest accolade after the Palme d'Or.

International critics have given the film high marks, and it has been nominated and won at major film festivals. It is a candidate for the Critics' Choice Movie Awards' Best Foreign Language Film category.
