From Setback to Success: Apoorva Lakhia's Response to Abhishek Bachchan's Exit!

Ek Ajnabee, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Haseena Parkar, and other films are among the well-known works of filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia. He asked Abhishek Bachchan to appear in Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, his first film as a director, back in 2003. The filmmaker believed the actor had agreed to do it since Junior Bachchan spent almost six months trying to get back to him. However, Abhishek rejected it months later. Lakhia became enraged by this, grabbed his screenplay out of the actor's hand, and walked away.

 

Apoorva Lakhia discussed his first film, Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, and his desire to have Abhishek Bachchan star in it in a media chat. The director recalls that Vicky, the son of Pahlaj Nihalani, had offered to produce his first picture. They all decide to cast Abhishek in the lead part after a quick debate. As a result, they had a meeting with the then-up-and-coming star.

 

The Ghoomer actor apparently enjoyed the film, but it took almost six months for the discussion to continue. This led the director of Dus Kahaniyaan to believe that, after spending so much time on it, Abhishek would approve the film. The director went on to reveal that meeting Junior Bachchan is like getting water.

 

They are given a coffee if he phones them a week later. They are aware of their growth in this way. Additionally, they are presented with dried fruits by the fourth or fifth encounter. “This gives you a green light. And when he starts to offer you sandwiches and all, you know that we will shoot now,” kidded Lakhia.

 

Despite the director's optimistic outlook, things didn't work out as expected. Abhishek called the up-and-coming filmmaker almost six months later and stated, "This film needs to be made, but not with me." “I got extremely mad at him, and I just snatched my script from his hand and said, ‘No problem’. And I left,” he told. But a week after the event, Abhishek's secretary called Apoorva Lakhia, and the rest is history.
