Anurag Kashyap calls himself 'terrible parent'!

Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap began his career in the film industry as a scriptwriter for numerous films. He is the father of Aaliyah Kashyap, a daughter from his first marriage to film editor Aarti Bajaj. He has been married twice.

 

In an honest conversation with his daughter on her podcast, the filmmaker discussed his previous relationships and the reasons behind his belief that he is a "terrible father."

 

Aaliyah Kashyap recently encouraged her father, Anurag Kashyap, the most precious person in her life, to have an open conversation with her about his life on her podcast. The daughter asked her father about the effects of his two divorces and whether he would consider getting married a third time, while touching on a number of personal matters.

 

Replying to this question, the Dev.D director specified, “I have realized that I am not a relationship person.” Backing his opinions, he reasoned that he could not because of his obsession with his work and the kind of films he makes. According to him, he would have been very good in relationships if he had been born in Europe and made films there.

 

Anurag Kashyap further revealed, “Because there is a royalty system. Because the money would keep coming in. But here, there is no royalty; there’s no system like that. So, I have to make more films at a higher frequency as compared to someone who is working with a big star, who is making one film in five years.”

 

After marrying Aarti Bajaj, Kashyap had the blessing of having Aaliyah Kashyap at her side. Unfortunately, though, the pair broke up in 2009. Actress Kalki Koechlin was his next wife, although they divorced in Mumbai in 2015. In response to a query on whether he would ever want to get married again, the filmmaker said, "I don't think so."

 

Additionally, the father-daughter pair talked about parenting on the same podcast. Anurag was asked by Aaliyah to describe the type of parent he believes he was. Anurag replied, calling himself a "terrible parent,", “I think I have been like a friend to you than actually a father and I know you miss that. Your mother has actually been your mom. She has been my mom and for a couple of years, she was also my dad.” He further added, “I think I am a terrible father. I am a set father.”
