Govinda issues his first statement post accidental gunshot!

Govinda, a Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader, suffered a self-inflicted leg injury on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, and was taken to Criticare Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, for emergency surgery when his licensed weapon misfired. The former MP is currently stable and healing nicely. "He was shot, but the bullet has been removed," the actor revealed.

 

Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde provided the media with an audio message in which Govinda expressed gratitude to his well-wishers and fans. Govinda expressed, “Namaste, pranam. I am Govinda. Due to your blessings, my parents’ blessings, and the grace of my guru… I was shot, but the bullet has been removed. I thank the doctors here, especially Dr. Garwal. Thank you all for your prayers and support.”

 

As to a media report, Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata at the time of the incident. Shashi Sinha, his manager, gave a detailed account of the incident and confirmed that Govinda was now fine.

 

His legal handgun unintentionally dropped to the floor where it was stored, resulting in a bullet being discharged. Shashi stated that Govinda's left knee was not injured, but the bullet was no longer present. He added that Tina Ahuja, Govinda's daughter, was in the hospital. "He is talking to everyone and is doing alright," Shashi said.

 

Tina revealed that the actor had surgery to remove the bullet. She said the physicians will evaluate Govinda's status after a day of observation in the intensive care unit. Sunita Ahuja, Govinda's wife, who was out of town at the time of the occurrence, came back to be with him right after.
