Mustafa was born to actor Salahuddin Tunio, from a Sindhi family, on 26 June 1983. He has two brothers and one sister, and is the cousin of actress Sanam Baloch.
He studied to be a pharmacist, but left before completing his degree considering his career choice to be a very bad decision.
