Film Baadshaho is worthy to watch once for enjoyable performances of star cast. !!

Earlier, Milan Luthria had teamed up with Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi to make the very entertaining Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and this year, the threesome is back with heist thriller Baadshaho.

 

Film Baadshaho may have had the distinction of a Hollywood heist thriller like Ocean's Eleven. This would seem like why Ajay Devgn agreed to be a part of this multi-starrer that attempts to make bandits look like Robin Hood. But good intention is defeated, when the execution offers less innovation.

 

Set against the backdrop of the Emergency, the movie revolves around Princess Gitanjali (Ileana D’Cruz), whose royal treasury is forcibly appropriated by Army officer Seher Singh (Vidyut Jammwal) on the orders of the Government. Gitanjali ropes in her loyal retainer/lover Bhawani Singh (Devgn) to hijack the armored truck transporting the gold from Rajasthan to New Delhi and this sets the stage for a race against time for Bhawani and his band of bandits Dalia (Hashmi), Guruji (Sanjay Mishra) and Sanjana (Esha Gupta) as they try to recollect the gold.

 

Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi, who had enthralled us with their intensity and roguish charm respectively, are at it again and the twosome has got some of the greatest dialogues in the movie. Between the two, Hashmi shines out as the confident and fatalist Dalia while Devgn unleashes his smoldering eyes and dark intensity with the right amount of control. Sanjay Mishra is real as ever while Jammwal looks confident enough. Ileana and Esha are looking beautiful while Sharad Kelkar is ok with his less meaty role.

 

Film Baadshaho has everything that a best thriller needs as fearless heroes, effective dialogues, beautiful females and an apparently impossible mission. But, having said that, the story lacks an ‘edge of the seat’ quotient, which is the backbone of every good thriller. It is noticeable that Milan has concentrated more on style than substance while directing this movie and while the plot had promise and could have been made into a high-octane actioner and thriller but Baadshaho falls short of anticipations. A few twists in the story do take you by surprise, but the length of the movie works against the movie. The cinematography is pretty good which is accentuated by the landscape of Rajasthan. The song Mere Rashke Qamar revives the magic of the voices of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

 

Overall, it is worthy to watch once for enjoyable performances of star cast.
