Simmba is a mass entertainer with Ranveer Singh’s remarkable act! !!

Bollywood’s well-known cops like Salman Khan’s Chulbul Pandey and Ajay Devgn’s Bajirao Singham have a huge fan following and the characters have achieved cult status and currently, Ranveer Singh has joined the league with Simmba.

 

Simmba spins around an orphan kid, Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba, who hails from Bajirao Singham’s village Shivgadh. When Simmba realises the power that a policeman wields, he decides to become a cop but, for all the wrong reasons. He wants the wardi not to be a Robinhood but for his own benefits. He grows up to be a dishonest cop and gets transferred to Miramar. There he forms an association with Durva Ranade (Sonu Sood) and allows him to carry on with his illegal businesses but for a substantial price. He falls in love with a girl named Shagun (Sara Ali Khan) and also makes a ‘muhboli behan’ Akruti. The head constable of his police station, Mohile often reprimands Simmba for being corrupt and not having a conscience but all his lectures fall on deaf ears. But, life changes totally for Simmba when Akruti gets raped by Ranade’s brothers. What happens then forms the rest of the plot.

 

About the acting and performances, Ranveer Singh is awesome in and as Simmba. Though Singh is essaying a corrupt police inspector, his character is likable right from the word go. He is slick and sharp as the cheeky policewala and is believable as the cop who can tackle several goons, at a time, single-handedly. Bollywood has got a new mass hero with Simmba. As the film is high on action, romance, comedy, emotions and drama, it gave Ranveer and chance to be the real blue Bollywood hero. While Sara Ali Khan is like a breath of fresh air she doesn’t have much to do here. Ashutosh Rana is remarkable as Mohile. Sonu Sood has essayed the foe Doorva Ranade and though he has a good screen presence. Ajay Devgn comes towards the climax and illumines the screen with his great screen presence. He is reenacting his well-known character Bajirao Singham in the film.

 

The movie is entertaining with little weaknesses. Simmba is a remake of South film Temper. The tale of the film is predictable and has several loopholes but the treatment is good.

 

Director Rohit Shetty needs to be applauded for his outstanding direction and by now, he knows the pulse of his viewers so he is fully aware of what will make the audiences clap and whistle. Dialogues are the best part of this film particularly Ranveer’s dialogues. The movie has quite a few Marathi lines so, the Hindi-speaking viewers might feel a little lost, but they will surely be able to gauge the emotion.

 

Simmba is a good crowd puller with a social message and has also given a voice to its female characters. Background score is influential and infuses life into numerous scenes. Songs are too good. Ranveer and Sara’s sizzling chemistry is noticeable, Cinematography is brilliant.

 

Overall, Simmba is a mass entertainer and worthy to watch once for Ranveer Singh’s act and good tale.
