Sandeep Reddy Vanga got a lot of support for Animal, and the film's continued success at the box office is proof of it. Although the action-drama kept viewers riveted to the screen, many were interested by the Animal Park preview. In a recent interview, the director discussed Animal's potential for a second and third installment. He also disclosed the date on which he would begin filming the follow-up.
Renowned director Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently discussed the characters and sequences of Animal in-depth in an interview with a media source. He revealed in the conversation that he always felt like writing the second half of the movie. Hence, when the film ended with a vulnerable Ranbir Kapoor, he thought of giving a glimpse of Animal Park.
Describing his decision to include the butcher scene after the credits in the movie, the Kabir Singh director reevaled, “So, I started that. There was a feeling for me and Ranbir strongly felt like the idea was great but we should use this scene now. Even I thought like ‘Let’s use it’. So, I thought like I’ll take a little while, keep a blank screen for a while, and then use it. But mujhey dar laga k log chale jaenge tab tak. (But I was worried that by then people would have left the theatre.)”
He went on to say that he wanted the viewer to empathize with Vijay, played by Ranbir. He also overheard people saying that he started the butcher scenario before that emotion subsided. Explaining his take on it, Sandeep revealed, “Because this feeling will continue for a while in part two. So, I thought okay when you see Volume 1, Volume 2, you’ll feel nice.”
In response to the interviewer's question on why Ranbir's character starts the film as a 60-year-old, he mentioned the potential for a trilogy. The director revealed, “Because keeping part 2 and part 3 in mind. I thought maybe parts 2-3 the old man is narrating. I thought it was a nice way of opening the film with laughter and relatively there he’s saying a monkey joke.”
Speaking further, the Arjun Reddy director revealed that Spirit, starring Prabhas, will be his next project and is slated to hit theaters in September 2024. He won't start working on Animal Park until after that. “Next is Spirit. After that, I’ll work (on Animal Park) because I don’t feel in the writer’s room. I write my own stuff.”
Explaining why he chose Animal Park as the title of the second part of the movie, he revealed, “I thought that there’s a bunch of animals, there’s not only one or two. So, it’s a warfare now. It’s like Mahabharat now between brothers and cousins.”
