Vivek Oberoi reminiscences going door-to-door to sell perfumes during school days!

Vivek Oberoi, who has already spoken about the difficulties he has had in his personal life and acting career, recently recounted going door-to-door to sell perfumes during his school years. He revealed, “I was about 10 years old when my father approached me, saying we’d go on a holiday in a month, but before that, he would teach me something over the first four weeks,” before adding, “I made mistakes but learned a lot.”

 

In a media interview, Vivek Oberoi provided insights into his entrepreneurial childhood, attributing his father, Suresh Oberoi, with molding his business style. At the age of ten, Vivek was assigned the responsibility of keeping track of the inventory of perfumes acquired by his father. He was told to keep a diary and to keep any additional money he made by selling the things for more than the advertised price. This practical lesson helped him learn fundamental business, accounting, and sales principles at a young age.

 

Vivek Oberoi started selling perfumes door-to-door when he was 10 years old, transporting the items in his school bag on his bicycle. “I went door to door on my bicycle, carrying my school bag filled with the inventory and merchandise,” he revealed. Despite facing hurdles and making mistakes, he gained vital knowledge and persisted with this attempt on an annual basis.

 

He also stated that around the age of 15, he began developing his own business ideas and investing in the stock market. He founded a technology firm at the age of 19 and sold it effectively by the age of 22. He told, “That’s when I realised it was possible to establish a company, sell it to an MNC and help both investors and myself earn money.”

 

Vivek stated that this achievement opened his eyes to the possibility of starting a business, selling it to a multinational corporation, and making a profit for himself and his shareholders. He also discussed how his entrepreneurial initiatives helped him overcome hurdles in his acting profession, giving him the confidence to pursue new chances on his own. This period was a watershed moment in his life.

 

He highlighted, “There should be no mistake in hard work from my side. We have to give 100 percent. When we do that, the result would mostly be good: be it in films, business, philanthropy or love. Sometimes you get tired because of the workload. But when the team and people are so good, you join forces, contribute and they understand the vision.”

 

He last appeared in Rohit Shetty's web series Indian Police Force, alongside Shilpa Shetty and Sidharth Malhotra.
