Aamir Khan, an actor and filmmaker, has talked candidly about the difficulties Bollywood is currently suffering amid its dark period. He asserted with confidence that the quality of Hindi cinema is comparable to that of other film industries, even if he acknowledged there is much space for development and improvement.
Aamir Khan asked whether there is a true difference in the general caliber of filmmaking throughout the nation in a media chat, even though he thinks there is a lot of space for development and learning within the Hindi film industry, especially by taking inspiration from other regional industries.
The Lagaan actor went on to say that, in his opinion, Hindi movies from the 1970s and 1980s were generally of poor quality. He remarked that the majority of movies produced at the time lacked substance when he first entered the business in 1988.
But since then, he thinks there has been a discernible improvement. He claims that a major change occurred in the 2000s as viewers become more accepting and started looking for unusual and varied stuff.
The 3 Idiots star also underlined the need of recognizing the advancements made in recent years and noted that changes are inevitable in the motion picture business.
He said that what was formerly seen as mainstream cinema used to adhere to a very certain formula, but that it has since changed to become a more open and expansive area where a wide range of films are successful. This change, in his opinion, was a good thing rather than a bad thing.
The Sitaare Zameen Par actor continued by saying that he thinks the industry has been making slow but steady progress, even though there is still opportunity for improvement. He acknowledged the current downturn and pointed out that these periods are normal for all professions. He asserts that the difficulties affecting Hindi cinema today are not unique and are instead a result of a cycle that all industries go through.
Aamir Khan responded that he would rather concentrate on doing what he does best, which is telling tales that he truly believes in, when questioned about his role in improving the current status of the industry.
He acknowledged that he does not and has never believed that he has the ability to fundamentally alter the industry. He respectfully emphasized that even producing a single high-caliber picture is a noteworthy accomplishment in and of itself, highlighting the difficulties of filmmaking.
