RRR Oscar Win: Deepika Padukone's Shocking Statement!

When the song Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli's RRR won the 95th Academy Awards, it made history. Deepika Padukone was in the audience to see the momentous occasion. The actress recently shared the reason behind her emotional outburst following the win. "India has been robbed at the Oscars numerous times," she said.

 

In an Instagram post on March 24, 2025, Deepika Padukone was invited to describe an Oscar victory that held special meaning for her. She revealed, “India has been robbed of the Oscars many times.” Many worthy Indian films are overlooked at the Academy Awards, the actress said. "It could be movies or talent," she remarked.

 

Deepika recalled her emotions following RRR's historic Oscar victory, She remembered, “But I remember being in the audience, and when they announced RRR, I got emotional. Outside of being an Indian, I have really nothing to do with that movie, but that was like a huge, huge moment. That felt very, very personal.”

 

Some highly regarded movies, like Tumbbad, Laapataa Ladies, The Lunchbox, and All We Imagine As Light, were mentioned in Deepika's post. These have not been nominated for any Oscars.

In her message, Deepika Padukone also shared her joy for Adrien Brody, an American actor who won the 97th Academy Awards' Best Actor prize for The Brutalist. DP’s caption read, "@adrienbrody, take a bow!” accompanied by clap emojis.

 

Sean Baker's Anora won five trophies at the recent Oscars, making it the night's biggest winner in other categories. Mikey Madison's performance in the film earned her the Best Actress award. Additionally, Anora won the Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, Best Picture, and Best Editing awards.
